Day Three on the The Cambrian Way mountain trail 479 km (298 miles) with a total ascent of 22,460 m (73,700 ft). I think it could be Britain's hardest long distance trail. Its hard to say but looking at the map i think i started todays episode around the Mynydd Garnclochdy area i want give exact camping locations away. I was so wet from the rain all night i set about getting ready to walk around 4am just to keep warm. I was no risk at cold from the time of Year and in good health. So walked back up towards Mynydd Garnclochdy i think. The rain came back on top the hill. The rain was very bad so much so i could only see about couple of meters ahead what with the mist as well as the dark even with two powerful lights. By this time my cannon camera was destroyed by the weather i should know by now and my phone was useless take note people think phone navigation fine lucky i know this i used my garmin fenix3 gps watch with the track loaded onto so i knew i was heading in the general dir

Holy Mountain sunrise A wild camp on Sugar Loaf in Vango F10 Helium UL Tent

Image
Last night i wild camped at Sugar Loaf mountain. Sugar Loaf mountain is 596 metres above sea level. It is a popular misconception that Sugar Loaf is an extinct volcano. I woke up to a sunrise over  the Skirrid, or the ‘Holy Mountain’ legend is a dramatic landslide on the north of the mountain was caused by a earthquake or a lightning strike at the moment Christ was crucified. There was a local tradition that earth from the Skirrid was holy and especially fertile, and it was taken away to be scattered on fields elsewhere, on coffins, and in the foundations of churches.  Rudolf Hess used to walk here when he was held prisoner at nearby Maindiff Court during the early 1940s. So today was going home day had not much of a choice and it had been a good 4 days including today which will be spent getting back to abergavenny train station. On the way i took a quick look at Abergavenny Castle. established by the Norman lord Hamelin de Balun in about 1087. It was the site of a massacre o

Last night i camped on the The Cambrian Way Britain's hardest long distance trail this part of it is also the Beacons way. First Coffee and a all day breakfast can. After getting the tent down i made my way along the The Cambrian Way (Beacons way) for a short while until a small path going down the steep side of the mountain. Care was needed this time of Year as it was all overgrown and hard to see where the big drops of the path was. After being stuck and covered in ticks maybe i got to a road in the end i could stayed up on the ridge on the  Cambrian Way (Beacon way). original plan was to walk back to Pandy  and catch the X3 stagecoach bus from there into Abergavenny. Plans change on a adventure or i make up the plans as i go along. Now i will be heading to Llanvihangel Crucorney. On the way i found what the Ancients of Wales may have called a blwch ffôn it may have been used to contact the dead. The English may have called it a telephone box. So i arrived at  Llanvihangel Cr

I had what may have been a tick bite and with all the hysteria over Lyme Disease when it is low risk i have had my back covered in them in 2014 and just scratched them of and that was in a red deer area with long grass by a river in North East Scotland while on the End to End trail John o' groats to lands end. Again only a month or so ago i had a tick in the private parts only realised after it being there for few hours i would think managed to remove it in bits i did clean it well this time it did go a bit red but nothing to worry about. I still feel ok. I wounder how many people think they got Lyme Disease when its just a cold or normal pains and i guess they do a blood test i no idea? Because seems a alarming amount of people seem catch Lyme Disease and i have not and i spend alot time in tick areas i even had a tick in the tent i was so tired could even be bothered to remove it from the tent lol.  I even spoke people who know people who died from it so for some its serious

A wild camp on the the best border view in the British isles I got the S6 stagecoach bus from Oxford to Swindon. Then the Train from Swindon to Newport where i changed trains for Abergavenny. Had a quick look around Abergavenny. Then i got the X3 stagecoach from Abergavenny to Pandy where i will start my walk. From Pandy i crossed into the Brecon beacons national park. Bit a small road walk untill i goto the End to End trail . Offa's dyke path, Beacons way section. It was then on upto Hatterrall Hill trig point where the path becomes with English Welsh border with epic view across into England patchwork farming fields. When i walked John o' groats to Lands end to this was the best wild camping view and i think the best view on the whole of the three and half month hike. I always wanted come back here and do a wild camp again and today was the day. Even with thunder lighting forecast it did not happen as a outdoors person i know weather forecasts are very poor indeed and th

Filmed on the 31/05/2017 since then my video skills and equipment has improved alot :) Skye Trail follows remote Glen Sligachan to the beautiful bay at Camasunary where there is an MBA bothy. From here a vertiginous cliff path with fantastic views across the water to the Cuillin reaches. Stage 5 does go all way to Elgol but i decided to wild camp at Glen Scaladal bay just before Elgol. Pass Sligachan Hotel. cross the Dunvegan road and the old stone bridge, built by Thomas Telford and take the path up Glen Sligachan. You will pass Loch an Athain on the right and then the much large Loch na Creitheach. At Camasunary there is a bothy unforgettably there was a alcoholic there who thought he owned the place i was not going stay there anyway had enough of bothies now there retirement homes for alcoholics. After the bothy its on the coast path with truly magnificent views across the waters of Loch Scavaig to the Cuillin - often reckoned to be the finest coastal view in the British Isles

Hangang DOG GPS Tracker with SOS Emergency Rescue Lightweight and waterproof dog tracking device my review below First thing you will need to do is charge the tracker it comes with no charge. You charge with the usb lead it comes with. It does not include a plug but you can use any usb socket to charge it. Then you want insert a sim card of your choice be careful inserting the sim card. i recommend a giffgaff sim card. It is a Free service only thing you pay for is the cost of 2g data from the sim card you decide to put into the tracker. The sim card will need to be a sim card that works on a 2g network such as giffgaff. I found giffgaff the cheapest for this. Get a new giffgaff sim top it up £10 and your get £5 credit free. Do not buy a bundle as this will only last a month and i walked the dog with the tacker and it only cost me a couple of pence on one minute updates so the top will last more than a month. So now you topped up your sim card for the tracker its time to download

From the road end a rough path is followed along Loch Sligachan to the Hotel, where there is a campsite and bunkhouse as well as the Sligachan Hotel Highlights on this trail. a memorial to the Battle of the Braes. In 1882 the crofters here fought 40 police officers from Glasgow who had been sent to arrest the ring-leaders of a protest about fair rents and tenancies; the ensuing public outcry led eventually to the Crofters' Act which gave crofters security of tenure. Filmed on the 29/05/2017 since then my video skills and equipment has improved alot :) I started of above the Storr but the official start this hike is at the Storr carpark. Not long after that you go across soggy moorland until you reach  edge of the escarpment with views of the sea. Walk along there until you descend Ben Tianavaig, Braes. Ben Tianavaig, Braes is steep. Wild camping Britain largest landslide with jack wolfskin gossamer tent ...

Filmed on the 28/05/2017 since then my video skills and equipment has improved alot :) Trotternish is one of the most spectacular landscapes in Britain. The great ridge which forms its backbone is the longest on Skye, and its unique eastern escarpment has been broken by Europe's largest landslides into a remarkable landscape. A very long and challenging walk with much ascent and descent. There are some very steep parts up and down i managed it with a big backpack. You need a good level of fitness and know how to use a map or gps. Is possible to camp up on the ridge but its very exposed make sure you there no storms predicted. This part my Skye trail hike. I did this stage in one go. This stage is hard going if doing in one go with a backpack. Calanais Standing Stones stone circles just how old really is this? why ...

Image
The Callanish Stones are an arrangement of standing stones placed in a cruciform pattern with a central stone circle. These include at least three other circles, several arcs, alignments and single stones; many visible from the main site. just how old really is this? why was it built? How much has it been altered over time? What is thought is They were erected in the late Neolithic era, and were a focus for ritual activity during the Bronze Age. The existence of other monuments in the area implies that Callanish may have an active focus for prehistoric religious activity for at least 1500 years maybe. Between the central and the eastern monolith of the stone circle is a chambered tomb 6.4 metres long. This may have been built later than the stone circle and is squashed in between the eastern stones and the central monolith. The stones were covered by a thick layer of turf. It is estimated that the place was abandoned around 800 BC. Only in 1857 was the overlying 1.5 metres of peat
