Day Three on the The Cambrian Way mountain trail 479 km (298 miles) with a total ascent of 22,460 m (73,700 ft). I think it could be Britain's hardest long distance trail. Its hard to say but looking at the map i think i started todays episode around the Mynydd Garnclochdy area i want give exact camping locations away. I was so wet from the rain all night i set about getting ready to walk around 4am just to keep warm. I was no risk at cold from the time of Year and in good health. So walked back up towards Mynydd Garnclochdy i think. The rain came back on top the hill. The rain was very bad so much so i could only see about couple of meters ahead what with the mist as well as the dark even with two powerful lights. By this time my cannon camera was destroyed by the weather i should know by now and my phone was useless take note people think phone navigation fine lucky i know this i used my garmin fenix3 gps watch with the track loaded onto so i knew i was heading in the general dir...

Three Lochs Way, Public transport, Travelodge, Glasgow, Birmingham

Image
I made a massive mistake on the way back yesterday i needed make it to Fort William bus station to catch the citylink bus to Glasgow or so i thought it turned out i got on the prebooked citylink bus a day early and they did not notice and i did not realise until i was sat in Glasgow bus station waiting for the national express bus to Birmingham when i looked at the ticket i realised i made a massive mistake and now i was in Glasgow a day early with no where to stay. What i could done is get the train to Loch lomond and wild camped there would saved alot money. But i was tired i looked at hotel prices i manged to get a travelodge  for £39 which is a very good price as was in city centre but still hell lot money for me but hey it was a great treat. My public transport coasts for the whole trip. I got the bus from Birmingham to Glasgow on National express if you book a good time in advance you can get the ticket as low as £5 one way. I got it for £22 return still very good value ...

Ben Nevis tourist free summit & shelter Britain's highest mountain

Image
My pre summer solstice trip to Scotland June 2019. Summer solstice countdown 17/06/2019 Last night i wild camped half way up Ben nevis at the loch. I wanted to get a early start to avoid all the tourists nothing wrong with tourism i promote it but i wanted to show you its possible to a have a relaxed walk even at the most popular mountain in Scotland if your willing to wake early and i am a tourist my self. It was raining early morning i  got away around 5ish i wanted set of about 3am i think but no way was going out in the rain is was below zero up there i think and i only had summer hiking clothes. Still i managed to get to the top before any one else. It was a different matter on the way down. I really wanted sleep up in the shelter but with the gear i had it would been very cold and even at night time there was still fair amount people still coming down the mountain. I think i may come back one day out season with winter gear and stop night in there. There was no views at...

Great langdale campsite and Keswick Ambleside

Image
Lake district Day 6 Cumbria England UK Great langdale national trust campsite has good wind protection. Also is good to know i think that some the money goes back into maintaining the paths in the National park. If though windy i the wind protection was so great did not effect my tent much. As today weather was not so great i took the bus to Keswick and Ambleside. Folks top tip for those hitchhiking and using public transport like my self if arriving by train to the Lakes in Oxenholme rather than getting the train from there into Windermere get the stagecoach bus into Kendle buy a 1 week pass if your going be there for a week which is under £30 and you can use it as much as you like over a week and just about ever public bus in the lakes is a stagecoach bus. Train tickets always book least week in Advance and buy separate ticket for each changing point normally works out lot cheaper. Ok back to my day i visit the Derwent Pencil Museum building but i did not pay to see it due t...

Mosedale cottage bothy to Great langdale campsite

Image
Lake district Day 5 Cumbria England UK Had a lack of sleep at the party house Mosedale cottage bothy where large group of lads turned up at around 1am off there faces and still awake when i left about 9am. Is the Lake district i should known better not really as remote as some other bothies i mean you could even drive up there in a 4wd which i am sure people do. I still think the more remote bothies elsewhere still ok for hikers rather than pissheads and pillheads. Still not wanting sound boring i hope they had a great time. I walked across Mosedale in the wind and rain towards Shap. Dropped my rubbish of there in a street bin. There are no buses in Shap on a Saturday so in end i decided to hitchhike. I have almost 30 years of hitchhiking experience i should do a video on that at some point. Normally small places easy get lift but cities i would not even bother trying now. So i hitchhiked to Penrith where i got the bus to Keswick hoping to stay the Caravan and camping club there. ...
